We Film Everywhere

Sailing to work is a strange feeling. As we wake up from our overnight commute into the heights of the North Sea, we load gear back into the car and get ready to disembark. After a six hour drive and 12 hour sail, a thud of the ship's hull lets us know that we have arrived into port. We’ve landed in Lerwick, one of the main towns on the Shetland Islands however this isn’t our final location, we’ve got an hour's drive and another ferry to catch which will take us to the smaller island of Yell which is host to Burravoe Primary School. Our filming location is a school that’s closer to Norway than it is the UK mainland, a school that has less than 20 pupils, but one that has just got gigabyte internet changing the way they learn, teach and live!

The island of Yell is a remote beauty, with weather running in cycles of 15 minutes meaning we see all four seasons within one hour. We would quickly run outside to get our drone shots when we see the rays of sunshine and escape back inside as the snow begins to fall. Everyone on the island is extremely friendly, instead of a subtle wave when you pass someone on a single lane road we are greeted by ecstatic waves. The teacher tells us if we drive up a hill just outside the school we can get a shot of every attending student's house in one set up! This place gives the word remote a whole new meaning.

Although all our shoots aren’t always dramatic adventures into the North Sea, we pride ourselves on being able to film anywhere in and out of the UK. So when the call came through for a potential job in the Shetland Islands we jumped at the chance and did everything we could to make sure the job set sail.
